ORIENTATION

The GIZ
Organization is operating in Pakistan, since 1961, on behalf of the German
Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). As part of
the EU’s Team Europe, the GIZ contributes to achieving the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals. In this connection, for Textile sector, mainly
to promote Pakistan’s Export to EU under GSP Plus, the GIZ is commencing two
projects effective from January 2024 till December 2026). Details as follows:
Projects:
1-
TextILES II (Jan 2024 to
Dec 2026) is designed to transform the textile and related industries of
Pakistan. It will promote circularity, foster product, and process
innovation, facilitate the local industry with access to international
markets, guide with marketing, capacity development for international
certification, and encourage research and development within the textile
sector. This comprehensive approach aims to strengthen Pakistan's textile
and related industries and make it more competitive on a global scale.

Women’s Employment for Empowerment (WE) (Jan
2024 to Dec 2026) will specifically target women's empowerment within the
textile and related industries in Pakistan. It will focus on improving
productivity and change management through Dialogue for Sustainability (DfS),
providing training and development opportunities for women, offering
leadership training, and enhancing the capacity of female workers. By
addressing these key aspects, WE aims to uplift and empower women in the
textile workforce, contributing to the growth of the industry in Pakistan.
The prime objective is to facilitate and promote
textile and related producers, encompassing medium and large companies
operating in Sindh, particularly Karachi.
To acquaint members exporters with the details of
these projects, PHMA invites, especially SME members (one member each
from member industry) to participate in the orientation sessions
scheduled in Karachi on Tuesday, 28th November 2023 (from 01:00
noon to 05:00 pm). Venue will be communicated and invitation will be
extended by GIZ to the registered member SMEs for subject orientation
session. Deadline for registration is 24 November 2023
(Friday).
