PHMA – GIZ COLLABORATION ON TEXTILE CIRCULARITY

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON “CIRCULARITY DRIVE”, MONDAY, 4^TH MARCH 2024

PHMA and GIZ are partners in progress to create awareness and facilitate the Value-added Textile Exporters to enhance their exports to EU under GSP plus. In this connection, GIZ under its TextILES II Programme, in collaboration with PHMA, is organizing a one-day workshop on “Circularity Drive” in Karachi on March 04, 2024.

The “Circularity” concept in textiles refers to some social and environmental responsibilities which would be future requirements of under EU Green Deal. To respond to these responsibilities, the importance of circularity-oriented process and product innovation must be incorporated while expanding the business. In this regard, to support SMEs on these lines GIZ TextILES-II has launch a project to capacitate SMEs to adopt circular economy principals.

As formerly done in Punjab province, GIZ TextILES-II wants to start an innovation contest in which all interested SMEs are invited to share their circular economy based process & product improvement ideas. In this connection, in the event GIZ team will orient the SMEs on Design thinking and Eco Design Principals to conceive innovative ideas focusing on:

·         What is Circular Economy Based Product and Process Innovation?

·         What sort of SMEs GIZ TextILES-II are looking forward to work with?

·         How SMEs can join this initiative?

·         What is Eco-Design and Design Thinking and how it can create new ideas?

PHMA strongly recommends member exporters (Business owners, CEOs, Top management (decision makers), HODs (Utilities, Production, R&D, IE) to participate in the event to express their interest in their GIZ TextILES-II program. GIZ will evaluate the participating SMEs to qualify for their GIZ TextILES-II project to be executed soon in Karachi.
