PHMA E-MAG - ILO BETTERWORK AWARENESS SESSION 24TH DECEMBER 2025

 

Prime Objective of Better Work Pakistan is focused to accelerate improvement in working conditions and business competitiveness in the textile, garments and footwear sector. It will also boost scalability and sustainability of impact by strengthening the capacity of national institutions, forging new strategic and operational partnerships, and shaping national policies an international supply chain practice. Thus, Better Work’s involvement in Pakistan could impact maintaining trade preferential schemes of EU (GSP+) and US (GSP).

 

First session regarding introduction of Better Work to SMEs was held on 24th December 2025 at 10am online wherein 20 member industries/ companies nominated 30 representatives (including female participants) to attend/ participate from PHMA Offices in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Sialkot. From PHMA Central Office Vice Chairman (South) Mr Salman Ishaq gave welcome note and Secretary General Mr Khadim Rasool briefed members about PHMA-ILO Pakistan collaboration and Joint Action Plan to facilitate and support Value-Added Apparel & Textile Industries.

 

Ms Farzana Islam, Programs and Operations Officer BW Pakistan briefed about Better Work Pakistan activities of pilot phase and the proposed plan of second phase for SMEs. Syed Mashhood Shah, Consultant ILO delivered a presentation on Better Work. Q & A session was also held after presentation.
