PHMA member exporters to avail the opportunity and benefits of tariff
concession under phase 2 of China Pakistan FTA effective from 1st January 2020
for Value Added Textile Exports to China
Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers &
Exporters Association (PHMA) submitted to the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of
Pakistan its proposals of zero duty? on hosiery / knitwear exports to
China under Phase 2 of China Pakistan Free Trade Agreement which was accorded
deserving considerations during the negotiations between two countries.
China Pakistan FTA Phase 2 has become
effective from 1st January 2020 whereby 44 tariff lines (zero duty) have been
included related to knitwear sector. Details are attached: Serial # 135 to 178.
Pertinent to mention here, China's Hosiery & Knitwear imports from
Pakistan, currently, comprise about 1.4% of the Chinese Global Hosiery &
Knitwear Imports. Please note that tariff lines of fabric and woven garments
are also included in the 313 tariff lines. With the concessions, tariff rates
for Pakistan shall be brought at par with ASEAN Countries, specially Vietnam,
and shall also give a margin of preference over India.
PHMA members are strongly recommended
and urged to enhance their export efficiency and capture their export share for
the Chinese Markets, accordingly.
