The enforcement of NEQS by industries has been simplified by issuance of legislation in 2001 called NEQS Self-Monitoring and Reporting by Industry Rules. The purpose of this rule is to make the owners and/or the operators of the industry responsible for systematic monitoring and reporting of the levels of pollution in wastewater and air emissions of their respective industry. By implementing this system the government has in fact made every industry liable of examining and evaluating its own environmental performance.
